Professional mice control services

Although small, mice can pose several dangers and annoyances to humans in our homes and properties. Damage to your home and possible negative effects to your health means that mice problems need to be managed sooner rather than later.

Mice can be rife with diseases that can spread to humans easily through their urine that can get on food and even their saliva when they take bites out of foods from your cupboards. A mice infestation can spread diseases in many ways. You only need look back to the 14th century with the black plague, to see the damage diseases from rodents can cause. Although nowadays, thankfully not as serious.

Mice can also play host to other pests and bring them into your home. Fleas can easily be transferred from the fur of a mouse to places in your home, meaning your pets could be infected with the blood-sucking pests. Along with this, mice can be a nightmare for allergy sufferers whose exposure to the mouse allergen that is left in the air can cause asthma.

Your houses can also fall victim and suffer a host of damage to a mouse infestation can cause. The teeth of these rodents are strong and versatile, and mice have a tendency to gnaw through a variety of materials such as insulation, cardboard, and even wood. Some mice even chew through electrical wiring, which can be highly dangerous, leading to exposed wiring around the home that you will likely be unaware of. In some cases, this can even lead to becoming a fire hazard.

Signs of mice infestation

If you suspect there to be mice in the home, you will likely be seeking to prove you are not going mad and hearing things. Before you call out a mice removal expert, you will want that concrete proof that you need a mouse exterminator.

Droppings

When identifying what rodent is housing under your roof, or in fact if you have a mouse problem at all, finding droppings can be a great indicator to the scale of your problem. Be on the lookout for small droppings, similar to a grain of rice in size (a quarter of an inch). This is a strong indicator that you need a professional mouse control exper

.

Noises

Mice are not the quietest of creatures, so it is likely that you will hear moving, scratching and high pitched squeaking through your walls. Mice are mostly nocturnal in nature, so you will most likely hear these noises at night. They may even be seen darting about in the kitchen at night.

Nests

Mice will build their nests in numerous places, usually within the wall cavity. They will shred a variety of materials to form these nests, including paper and cardboard. Mice also have a tendency to create new avenues to their nests by gnawing small mice holes, which are clearly cut and around the size of a 50 pence piece.

Mice treatment

Mice are treated according to the location of the infestation and level of infestation. The common methods of treating for mice are poisoning or trapping. The poison can be put down in the open (providing there are no children or pets around) in bait trays in the loft, in tamper proof bait boxes internally or externally or in throw packs. We use three types of poisons commonly, all of which are of professional standard.

The mice will need to feed on the poison several times before they die. If mice are entering the building, the entry points must be located and sealed off. Do not remove or disturb any bait boxes that may have been used.

Our mice exterminators may sometimes use both poison and traps on-site, depending on the level of infestation. All our treatments are in line with the HSE and British standards. Our professional mouse control treatment is the most effective way to ensure your home receives a full mice eradication.

Conditions where mice thrive

There are several factors that can create the perfect habitat and breeding grounds for a mouse infestation. If you avoid these then it will give you the best chance of not needing professional mouse control professionals to visit your property.

Easy entry to home

Mice possess the attributes burglars could only dream of. Whether they need to climb to hard to reach places or squeeze through the tinniest of holes, they can gain entries in a variety of ways. If there are any gaps as small as even one-quarter of an inch, then there is a possible access point for a mouse and the potential for a mouse infestation.

Past infestations

If you have had a previous mice infestation and treated it without professional guidance, there is a chance you are leaving yourself open for re-infestation. A full clean down of the area is needed, which includes removing all droppings and a deep clean of the infestation area. If not, mice will pick up on the previous scent and will feel it is a good place to nest.

Unkept gardens

Long grass just screams “safe haven” for mice. They can remain hidden and undetected giving them the perfect nesting grounds. This can lead to them eventually entering your home if you were to ever leave a door open. Also, if your garden contains bird feeders or trees with fruit in, the mice can use this as an easy food source to sustain their home.

Leftover food

From a young age everyone has had it drummed into them that you should not make a mess and leave food lying around as this will attract mice. There is a reason people say it. It is true! Every animal needs a food source to thrive, and mice are no different. Leaving crumbs or food on sides or flooring will leave you needing to seek mouse pest control.
